January 2025 Drill Highlights

Kenyatta Stanford

Happy New Year!

January was an inspiring start to the year, filled with achievements, progress, and camaraderie. Here's a quick look at what made this drill memorable...

Our cadets excelled during the Annual Inspection, showcasing discipline and hard work that define our unit. Congratulations to everyone for their outstanding efforts. Many thanks to Ms. Ruzicka for managing our supply room and Petty Officers Soulé and Lacey for their quality control efforts during the division's dress blues inspection.

Bravo Zulu to Navy League Cadet Obioha on his promotion to Petty Officer First Class.

Cadets met one on one with staff to begin working on their 2025 Individual Development Plans. These personalized roadmaps help cadets set and achieve goals during their time in the program. Individual Development Plans also allows leaders to tailor mentorship and customize opportunities, as well as identify benchmarks for reporting and enhancing retention.

Our Sea Cadets participated in training sponsored by US Coast Guard that allowed them to earn Small Boat Certifications. They are now legally allowed to operate small boats and jet skis, a huge milestone towards building maritime skills and confidence. Many thanks to volunteers from the US Coast Guard Recruiting Station for their efforts and time. We appreciate you! Congratulations to cadets that earned their certifications.

While Sea Cadets were in Small Boat Certification training, League Cadets embraced their creative skills while creating vision boards for 2025. Continuing with our culinary curriculum, they learned how to make fruit smoothies and after enjoying their creations, discussed the importance of visualizing and articulating their goals for the year.

Chow is always much anticipated and a delight thanks to Ms. Keyser and our volunteers! Also, a heartfelt thanks to our XO Gilmartin for allowing us to enjoy her tasty Scottish Tattie soup recipe. It was the perfect addition to the day!
