December 2023 Drill

Updated: Jun 27

December 9-10, 2023 Drill took place at the Great Lakes Naval Base.

We started the Drill with the dress uniform inspection in anticipation of next month's annual inspection and winter training.

Sea Cadets proceeded to work on their next medical curriculum topic: First Aid for Severe Trauma. League cadet's curriculum for the day included Mental Health.

On Sunday, Sea Cadets covered Mental Health, while the league cadets concentrated on Gastrointestinal (GI) System activities.

In the afternoon, the unit recruits practiced assembling their seabag in preparation for the winter training.

At the end of the drill, the unit had a Christmas party with a White Elephant Gift Exchange.

GOOD LUCK TO THOSE ATTENDING WINTER TRAINING

Thank you for a great drill! Good luck to those of you going to winter training. We have cadets going to Illinois, Louisiana, and Ohio this month. As a commanding officer, I hope not to hear from the training commander while cadets are there. Please remember that you are representing yourself, your unit, and your region at every moment while there.

THIS SATURDAY, DECEMBER 16, 9-10AM2023 Fallen Hero Wreaths Fort Sheridan. We look forward to seeing you and your families at the important event.

LOCATION Fort Sheridan Cemetery Vattner Road Fort Sheridan, IL 60037. Families are welcome to join. UNIFORM: Dress in Blues with black liner on top and a parka. We will meet at 8.40 AM.

SEA BAG. Please check your seabag. Parents, please assist! There is a seabag that doesn't belong to your cadet, especially if your cadet wears size "Medium." The bag possibly has the name "PATIL" and has a Small parka and black dress shoes inside. Please let the CO know ASAP. There is a seabag with a medium-size parka left in the ready room.

The Red Cross certification your cadets took costs $26. To obtain it, send money to me via Zelle.

Next Drill Sunday, January 14-15, we will have an annual inspection. Make sure that your dress uniform looks the part of this event, your shoes are shined, and your ID is present. A replacement ID costs $10 and has to be acquired ahead of time.

Photos will be uploaded to the Facebook group.
