For the April Drill, USNSCC 9-1-1 Division joined the U.S.S. Michigan (SSGN 727) Division in LAKE CITY, MICHIGAN.
All participating cadets boarded vans in Arlington Heights and departed to Lake City, Michigan, in the early afternoon. Upon arrival, our unit joined the U.S.S. Michigan Division in their activities, evening chow, evening colors, uniform, and barrack inspection.
We started with the morning chow, morning colors, and the P.R.T on Saturday Morning.
After that, the Young Marines unit joined both sea cadet units in training. Lake City Fire Department trained sea cadets and young marines on rescue operations. Dressed in full gear with no visibility, cadets in groups of two had to find a rescue dummy while sticking together and finding the way out.
Groups also got a detailed tour of the Firehouse, different trucks, and power equipment used in the rescue operations.
Cadets also had an opportunity to ride on the ice boat and dip in the ice water.
On Sunday, USNSCC 9-1-1 Division visited U.S.S. Silversides Submarine Museum in Muskegon, Michigan, on the way back to Illinois.
